oops.

Well, it saddens me to inform you that I have exceeded my photo limit with this blog... Just when things were getting good. I wasn't aware there were such outrageous limitations. Unsure of my next blog-related move. I will however tell you that things are going well. (=

ramp.

More complete

scale.

For our semester studio project we are supposed to develop a furniture piece...
Most are designing the reception desk for their therapy center... I have decided to develop a wheelchair accessible, mounting ramp. With function over form it is not a very exciting piece, yet, but I did have to pat myself on the back when I figured out how to model the cut-out built in handrail, shown in the last picture. The limestone wall shows building context. The ramp is designed to have multiple levels and approaches for riders with different levels of ability. The six foot wide ramp has a two inch lip to prevent the chairs from deviating from the ramp and textured surfaces for added friction. It has been interesting trying to choose materials that are aesthetically pleasing yet durable considering the use of the piece. Besides adoration for the lovely scale figures seen in the renderings, any input?

progress.

Remember these?

Rendered using only photoshop. Far from perfect, but I learned a lot in the process.

"break."

My break in Manhattan to-do list.

pieces.

All of the hardwood pieces glued up, scraped, planed, squared and rough cut to length.

All of the hardwood pieces joined to the same width, cut to final length and shape.

The next step is to make all of the joinery cuts with a router.
